BRAATEN, Bob


The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Wednesday, January 07, 2015 Bob Braaten, 86, of Prescott, Arizona, went home to our Lord on Dec. 14, 2014. Bob is survived by his wife, Jan Braaten; son Randy (Annette) Braaten; daughter Laura (Oscar) Zardeneta; daughter-in-law Jeanne Braaten; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters Betty (Paul) Griffin and Carol (Jim) Lowrey; and brother Gary (Jackie) Braaten. He was preceded in death by his parents Les and Bessie Braaten; brother Donald Braaten; and son Steve Braaten. Bob was born in Edmore, North Dakota. He was the oldest of the surviving siblings. The family moved to California in 1939. Bob graduated from South Gate High School in 1946. Shortly after graduation, he went to work for Alcoa. Three months later, Bob joined the United States Army, where he began his training first in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, and continued at Ft. Benning, Georgia, where he completed Jump School. After being honorably discharged, he returned to work for Alcoa. Bob retired after 40 years of dedicated service. Bob enjoyed many interests, spending time outdoors, traveling, reading, and was always willing to work on a project for someone in need of help. His greatest love was for his family and friends, with deep devotion to his faith and the church. He will be remembered lovingly forever. A celebration of Bob's life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, at First Baptist Church, 148 S. Marina St., Prescott.
