James R. Boody, 68, entered eternal life totally unexpected Dec. 25,
sleeping away peacefully at his home. Born Feb. 9, 1946 to parents
Donald Tracey Boody and Barbara Louise in Los Angeles. He served his
country honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps as a medical assistant in
Vietnam and was released from active duty and transferred to Naval
Reserve NAS in Oahu in Hawaii in 1969.
He completed his degree of Associate in Arts at the University of
Hawaii; continuing into his own business ventures, starting out selling
popped popcorn out of a shed he built in his backyard in Hawaii. In
1976, Jim invented the popcorn portion pack, where the corn, salt and
butter flavored oil is combined in a 2-chamber pouch, professionally
premeasured and ready to pop. It was the breakthrough in the industry of
popcorn and the pack has since been copied and widely used by major
popcorn companies.
Jim's mission has always been to help others and make a difference in
their lives and he excelled in doing that. He lived his life to the
fullest and enjoyed every day being loved by everyone around him.
He is survived by his wife Maria Boody and his daughter Lisa-Maria
Boody.
Services are set for 2:30 p.m., Friday at the Cemetery on Deer Run, with
