Jane M. Turner passed away at age 95 after a short illness on Jan. 4, 2015. She was born in Hugo, Colorado, Aug. 12, 1919, to Bess and Otto Harkee.
After graduating from high school, she attended college in Greely, Colorado, obtaining her teaching degree. In 1940, while teaching school in an oil camp, she met and married Russ Turner, a recent graduate in engineering who worked in the oil-fields of Wyoming. The oil business led them to live in many locales, including Wyoming, North Dakota, Alberta, Canada, Norway and Trinidad-Tabago Islands. When Russ retired in 1972, they moved to Prescott, Arizona.
Jane was a schoolteacher and a dance instructor. She and Russ traveled a great deal and toured Alaska, Central America and Europe. She loved to buy and sell Navajo jewelry. She enjoyed volunteering at her church and serving the mentally handicapped and blind in Prescott.
Her husband passed away in 2004. In 2008, Jane moved to Granite Gate Senior Living Center in Prescott and in 2011, she moved to an assisted living home in Pocatello, Idaho.
Jane is survived by her children, Gloria Jo Barnett and husband Jerry of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Roger Turner and wife Kaye of Pocatello, Idaho; her granddaughter, Debra Garrett and husband Cliff; two great grandchildren, Owen and Ava of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, James Harkee and her son James Turner.
