Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, Arizona, January 04, 2015 Larry Deibel was born in Anderson, MO to Ruth and Carlin Deibel on June 9, 1947. He moved to Flagstaff when he was 4 years old where he lived the remainder of his life. He graduated from Flagstaff High School where he lettered in football, was in the marching band, All State Choir and drama club. At NAU, Larry pursued education in Music and Mechanical Engineering. He was in the Shrine of the Ages Choir and Phi Mu Alpha music fraternity. Larry was a follower of Christ. His church home was First Southern Baptist Church. He held various positions in the church including building churches on the Navajo Reservation. In Larry’s professional career, he was an exceptional auto body repairman, master mechanic, and ultimately a dealer principal of Deibel Jeep. He was consumed with doing whatever he did, with excellence. In many parts of his professional life he was self-taught. Larry took great joy in passing along his knowledge to others. Larry earned his pilot’s license in 1987. As a skilled pilot, he loved all aspects of aviation including planning, maintaining, repairing, and enjoying countless hours of hangar flying. He was always generous with his time, advice, tools, and labor. Larry enjoyed being outdoors, particularly driving his Jeep in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado. He was always in awe of God’s beauty. Above all, Larry was a devoted family man who loved his family furiously. He would do anything within his power to make things easier for any one of the family members. Larry had one true love, his beautiful wife or 44 years, Cheryl. Larry went to be with his savior, December 23, 2014 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix. Larry is preceded in death by Carlin and Ruth Deibel. Larry is survived by his wife Cheryl, his sons Adam (wife Leanna, grandkids Rachel and Jared) and Seth (wife Jen, grandkids Hannah, Cailyn and Isaac), his brother Curtis (wife Cathy) of Flagstaff, and sister Carolyn in Texas.
