George Pearce, 64, lost his battle with cancer on Dec. 28, 2014. He
passed away at home with his family by his side.
George was born Aug. 26, 1950 in Burbank, Calif. He was the youngest son
of George and Lauretta Pearce. He was raised in California along with
his two brothers, Frank and Steve. After graduating from Millikan High
School in Long Beach, he worked as a longshoreman and entered the Coast
Guard Reserves.
In 1973, he was hired on the Newport Beach Fire Department. George began
and ended his career in the fire service with NBFD. He retired in 2005
as a battalion chief.
After seven years of dating, George and Jackie were married June 25,
1998 in Barbados. They were blessed with 24 years together. He was
deeply loved and his impact on those close to him will be felt and
cherished forever.
George loved to be active and lived life to its fullest. He enjoyed
golf, skiing, softball, boating, jeeping, pickleball, travel and being
an Elks Lodge member.
George is survived by his mother Lauretta; wife, Jackie; brothers, Frank
(Janelle), Steve (Linda); step-children, Chad (Breezy), Grant (Linda),
Todd (Ashley), and Tiffany (Jaysen); grandchildren, Bodin, Caleb, Bella,
Ryan and Brixton; nieces and nephews, Katie, John (Christina), Matthew,
and Jeff (Miranda); and great-nieces, Kylee, Kaytie, Katelyn and Ashley.
George was a donor to Science Care for cancer research. He was cremated
and his remains will be put to rest alongside his father, George
Franklin Pearce at Westfield Cemetery in Grinnell, Iowa.
A celebration of life will be at 10 a.m., Sunday at Pacific View
Memorial Park, Corona Del Mar, Calif. A reception will be held at the
American Legion in Newport Beach following the service.
