William Ernest Barthel, “Little Bill” passed away at 69 years of age on
Jan. 6, 2015 in Lake Havasu City. He was born to Cecelia Alice and
Rudolph William Barthel in Elk River, Minn., July 16, 1945. William was
wed to Pamela Jo, July 4, 1987 in Elk River, Minn. They were married for
27 years.
William lived in Detroit Lakes, Minn. until 1990; Vergas, Minn. until
2000; Park Rapids, Minn. until 2008 and moved to Lake Havasu City, in
2011. William was employed at Little Bill’s Repair in Monticello, Minn.;
commercial snowplowing, dump truck and landscaping in Elk River, Minn.,
as well as Barthel’s Resort in Detroit Lakes, Minn. He was always
staying busy by working and looking for that next job. He was known as a
workaholic and a home renovator.
William is survived by his mother, Cecelia Barthel of Elk River, Minn.;
wife, Pamela Jo Barthel; son, Klinton Barthel of Frazee, Minn.; three
daughters, Kris Barthel of Detroit Lakes, Minn., Tina Wassermann (Eric)
of Zimmerman, Minn., and Kelly Barthel of Palisade, Minn.; four
brothers, Donald Barthel of Big Lake, Minn., Paul Barthel (Mary) of Elk
River, Minn., Gordy Barthel of Montana, and Dick Barthel of Oregon; two
sisters, Shirley Roste (Mike) of Long Prairie, Minn. and Debbie Jensen
of Remer, Minn. William leaves behind five grandchildren, Brandon,
Jacob, Bailey, Rick, Dylan. He was preceded in death by his father,
Rudolph.
The funeral service will be at Calvary Baptist Church, 1605 S. McCulloch
Blvd., at 10:30 a.m., Jan. 16.
Services were placed in the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and
Crematory.
