The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Sunday, January 11, 2015 Cherie B. Wheeler, 103, of Sun City West, Arizona, passed away Dec. 28, 2014. Born in Ghent, Belgium, to Johanna and Camiel Blondeel, she immigrated to the U.S. with her parents at the age of 15. She met and married her husband of 48 years, Leonard, in Chicago, Illinois. Before retiring to Sun City West in 1979, they lived in Omaha, where they raised their family. During her entire life, she was a prolific and award-winning china painter and porcelain doll artist. She devoted her free time to playing "Go Fish" and "Car Lot" with her grandchildren when they would visit. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard E. Wheeler and granddaughter Lyndsay Lynn Wheeler. She was a loving and warm-hearted mother to her sons Leonard E. Wheeler II (Nancy) of Tucson, Arizona, and Lawrence L. Wheeler (Carol) of Prescott, Arizona; and a dedicated and doting grandmother to her grandchildren John, Laurie, Mindy, Carly and Cameron; and great-grandchildren Michaela, Andrew and Greysen.
