GAETHJE, John Lloyd

Vining Funeral Home, Safford, Arizona John Gaethje October 3, 1937 - January 2, 2015 John Lloyd Gaethje, of Oracle, Arizona, peacefully entered into eternal rest January 2, 2015, at the Tucson Medical Center. He was 77 at the time of his passing. John was born to Edward and Anna Gaethje on October 3, 1937 in Bisbee, Arizona. He married Barbara Huffman on July 11, 1959. Together they had three children, Russell Gaethje (Yvonne), Ray Gaethje (Carolina), and Anna McGonigle (John). He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. John honorably served in the United States Army for three years followed by working for Phelps Dodge Mining Corporation for forty-one years, which he then retired in Oracle. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and watching his children and grandchildren participate in their sporting events. He is survived by: his three children, eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, who all adored him. He is also survived by: his sister-in-law, Marjorie Carmichael; and brother and sister-in-law James and Sherry Huffman. John was preceded in death by: his wife, Barbara Gaethje; his father and mother, Edward & Anna Gaethje; his in-laws Marvin & Oceal Huffman; and a brother-in-law, Don Carmichael.
