Vining Funeral Home, Safford, Arizona Nellie Quiroz November 22, 1929 - January 5, 2015 Nellie Quiroz, age 85, of Safford, entered into eternal rest Monday evening, January 5, 2015, at the Mount Graham Regional Medical Center with her loving family at her bedside. A Mass of Christian Burial for Nellie will be celebrated Friday, January 16, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church by Rev. Robert Rodriguez. The recitation of the rosary will be prayed Friday, January 16, 2015, at 10:00 a.m., also at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church by Deacon Carl Vessels. Family will receive friends Friday morning, January 16, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. She was born on November 22, 1929 in Safford, to Benedito Ortiz and Fabiana (Ybarra) Ortiz. Nellie was born and raised in Safford where she attended school until the 9th grade. She met her husband Luis Montez Quiroz, Sr. while he was on military leave from the Army. They married March 8, 1947. While Luis worked construction, they lived in various places, such as Safford, Globe, San Manuel, Miami and Kearny. Nellie worked as a clothes presser and a home maker, which she took much pride in. She was a very active volunteer in the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church as a Crucista, a member of the church choir, a catechism teacher and a volunteer for St. Vincent De Paul. Nellie is predeceased by: her parents, Benedito and Fabiana; her husband, Luis; her sons, Frank Daniel Quiroz and John Richard Quiroz; her brothers, Alfred, Ramon and Manuel; her sisters, Amelia and MaryLou; and her great-grandchildren, Chad, Leanna and Lilly. Nellie is survived by: her daughters, Barbara Quiroz of Globe, Debbie Quiroz of Safford and Keleka "Tammy" Quiroz; sons, Louie M. Quiroz, Jr. (Dee) of Safford, Micheal D. Quiroz of Safford, Robert L. B. Quiroz (Mari Chu) of Safford, and John Clark of San Carlos; 21 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren, plus two on the way; 21 great-great-grandchildren, with two on the way; sisters, Libby Hinojos, Carmen Gonzalez; brothers, Simon, David and Ben Ortiz. She will be extremely missed and will be forever in our hearts. Good-bye sweetheart, until we meet again!
