DILLAVOU, Uryth Julian (Dilly)


The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Friday, January 16, 2015 Uryth Julian (Dilly) Dillavou was born on Aug. 28, 1915, the son of Curtis C. Dillavou and Murtia Elisabeth Strohl, in Lisbon, Iowa, and passed peacefully on Jan. 11, 2015. He married his sweetheart, Phyllis Marie Buttoph, on July 3, 1938, deceased Sept. 18, 2001. Dilly was a Second Lt. and Veteran of WWII. He has three children, Sandra Sue (Graben), Vicky Lou Dillavou and John Curtis Dillavou; eight grandchildren; and 13 living grandchildren. He was a sales representative for 24-plus years with North Dakota Concrete Products Co., living in Bismarck, North Dakota. He retired to Prescott, Arizona, in 1972, and built his dream home with Phyllis. He moved in 1992 to the Villages of Lynx Creek, where he pursued his hobbies of woodworking, playing tennis, and rooting for the sports teams of Arizona. He was a loving husband, gracious father, friend to all, member of the American Legion and life member of the BPOE, and a man never to say a demeaning word about anyone. Services will be 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, at the Chapel of the VA Medical Center, Prescott, Arizona. Internment will be on July 3, 2015, at Pilot Mound, Iowa Cemetery.
