HARLESS, III, James Howard (Tripp)


The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Wednesday, January 21, 2015 James Howard "Tripp" Harless III passed away suddenly on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015, in Prescott, Arizona. Tripp was a young man of many accomplishments. He was a graduate of McGill-Toolen High School, where he was a member of the football team. He also attended The Arnold School and University of South Alabama. He was an avid Alabama football fan and outdoorsman. He loved hunting and fishing. He served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps. Tripp was a champion boxer, held a black belt in karate, and was an accomplished firearms instructor. He was very active in charitable organizations: Arizona Youth Recovery, Make-A-Wish Foundation, and the Wounded Warrior Project to name only a few. He was also involved with Gate House in Prescott, Arizona, having taken first place with the boys in the Arizona BBQ Cookoff. He was a true southern gentleman and was proud to be a son of the great state of Alabama. Tripp is survived by his parents James Howard Harless II and Sjon Archer Harless; sister Hope Harless; and grandmother Oliveth Archer. He is also survived by his uncles Happy and Cecilia Archer, Brandy and J.J. Archer, and M.K. and Paula Harless; and cousins Jon, Katie, Hannah, Mallory and Bowman Archer and Chelsea, Kittie, Hannah and Chase Harless. He also leaves behind his best friend Bo Bear, his beloved Springer Spaniel. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Pallbearers will be Bowman Archer, Jon Archer, Alex Barnanov, Sean Carley, Jeffrey Hendrich, and Daniel Salisbury. Honorary pallbearers will be William Bender, Sanford Greer, Rob Hendrich, Jay Jackson, Drew Salisbury, David Turk and Wes Williams. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Waterfront Rescue Mission, Wilmer Hall or St. Mary's Home.
