Phillip Holmes (Scotty) Scott, 77, of Humboldt, Arizona, passed away of natural causes (heart problems and Parkinson's disease) at Prescott Manor, Prescott, Arizona, on Jan. 16, 2015. He was born in Big Clifty, Kentucky, on Jan. 5, 1938, and lived in various places throughout his life, including Kentucky, Flagstaff and Phoenix, Arizona, Denver, Colorado, and Alaska.
Phillip moved to the Humboldt/Mayer area in 1988 and worked at The Orme School in Mayer in the maintenance department and woodworking shop for 14 years. Phillip enjoyed working with wood, his specialty being wooden signs and small cabins made to scale, and he loved collecting pocketknives and pens. He was also an avid reader, especially of history and World War II.
He is survived by his wife Carol (Gillette), to whom he was married for 26 years this March; one son, Sean Scoff (Becky); three daughters, Lisa Davidowicz (Ron), Vanessa James, and Erin Scoff, all of the Denver, Colorado area; one granddaughter, Chelsea; five grandsons, Ryan, Morgan, Phillip, Michael, and Paul; nieces Kristi (Carl) Goeke and Stacy Nordman; nephew Dan Scott (Veronica); niece Ellen (Jay) Helenius; other nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephew Annika, Sara, and Calvin Gocke; sister-in-law Marjorie Gillette of Michigan; special cousins Anne Wood and Betty Sue Richardson; and many dear friends. He also leaves behind his beloved doggies April, Abby, Pepper and Misty, who will dearly miss him.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Sheridan Scott and Mary Nell (Durbin) Scott; brother Robert L. Scott of Prescott Valley, Arizona, in December 2013; and an infant son, Timothy George Scott.
Heritage Memory Mortuary is handling arrangements. No services are planned. The family wishes to thank Dean of APS, all of Phillip's Hospice Family Care caregivers (especially Lauren and Bethany), his doctor J. Dan Morris, and his caregiver during his last week, Pam at Prescott Manor, and all of the many people who assisted with Phillip's care during the last few months and weeks.
Phillip, you will be dearly missed. We love you.
