Donald Lee Douglas, 81, of Salome, AZ passed away peacefully on August 8, 2014 after a long illness. A native of Princeton, IN, Don was born June 2, 1933.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland Douglas and Helen Day, his daughter, Denise, and sister, Sue Rubash.
Don spent his early school years living in Wickenburg, AZ. In his teen years Don lived in Kodiak, AK with his dad who worked for the US civil service as his contribution to the war effort. He then moved to CA where he received a decent share of his secondary education. Don eventually received a degree in mechanical engineering. He then relocated from CA to Phoenix, AZ. Don was an aerospace engineer who worked for a number of prestigious aircraft manufacturing firms in the Phoenix area. He served honorably in the US Army during the Korean conflict from March of 1953 to 1956 and was honorably discharged as a specialist five.
He is survived by his wife Ermajean "Jeannie", his brother Mike (Peggy), daughters Sherry Stichter (Mark), Cindy Ward (Michelle), Carole Somsky, sons Tim Rapson and Dennis Rapson, granddaughters Melissa Ward (Bill), Natalie Nelson (John), Erin Nilles, Allison Spradlin, grandsons Sean Baumann, DJ Johnson, Kenny Rapson, Delaney Nilles, great grandsons Charlie and Jacob Baumann, Daniel Spradlin.
A memorial service will be held at the Legacy Funeral Home, 10702 W Peoria Ave. on August 25 at 2:00pm.
