BURTON, Janet L.

West Valley View May 24, 2000 Janet L. Burton, a teacher at Liberty School in Buckeye for more than 20 years, died May 15, 2000, at age 61. She was a resident of Litchfield Park. Burton was born in Des Moines, Iowa and attended Mingo Consolidate Schools. She received her teaching certificate from Iowa State Teachers College (now University of Northern Iowa) in 1958. Burton moved to Arizona in 1958 and earned her bachelor's degree in education from Arizona State University in 1972 and her master's degree from Nova University in 1988. She was a member of the National Education Association, Beta Sigma Phi, Delta Kappa Gamma and the Community Church of Buckeye. She is survived by her husband, Edward; daughters, Mary Reece, Cindy and Kate Peer; son, Dan; sisters, Joyce Ohrtman and Judy Waskow; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Community Baptist Church of Buckeye. Valley West Funeral Chapel made the arrangements.
