Glen Dever Whitcanack, a World War II veteran, passed away on Jan. 18, 2015, at the VA Hospice in Prescott, Arizona. He was born Aug. 27, 1927, the son of James A. and Stella Whitcanack. Glen was 87 years old.
Glen married Virginia Maxine Bentley on April 30, 1950, and they shared many happy years together. Glen moved to California in 1965 to join Happyholme Farms in Lodi, California, as sales manager. After it burned down in 1978, he purchased a mill in Turlock. They sold the business and purchased Marty's Inn Steak House in Newman, California and operated it until 1993, when they sold it to retire and travel.
He enjoyed showing Palomino horses, raising world-champion Charolaise bulls, spending time on his 42-foot yacht and traveling in their bus.
Glen is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia, and son Robert Whitcanack. Survivors are sons Glen Jr. (Sharon) of Galt, California, and Bentley Whitcanack of Prescott; daughters Laurie Jo Whitcanack of Casseville, Missouri, and Debbie Windeler (Ed) of Prescott; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015, at the Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S. Cortez St., Prescott. Glen will be laid to rest at Cherokee Memorial Park, Lodi, California.
