Anthony Nile Decker, 53, of Prescott, Arizona, passed away after a brief illness on Jan. 26, 2015. He was born in Warrensburg, Missouri, on Aug. 13, 1961.
Tony served his country for 12 years in the U.S. Army as a linguist and interrogator, specializing in Arabic and Russian, leaving the Army at the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served in numerous overseas operations, including Desert Shield and Desert Storm in the Persian Gulf.
He will be remembered for his great love and devotion to his family and friends, his deep passion for cooking, the great outdoors, and his beautiful warm smile.
He is survived by his parents, Kenneth Decker of San Antonio and Barbara Lopez of Prescott; siblings Heidi of Boston, Rick Decker of New Haven, Indiana, and Jan Sonney of Prescott Valley; his children, son James P. Decker (currently with the U.S. Air Force), daughters, Joni M. Spangler of Seattle, Juli L. Decker of Prescott Valley, and Amber M. Hervey of Phoenix; and his ex-wife, Belinda (Bunny) Decker of Prescott.
A service celebrating Tony's life will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, at the Adult Senior Center, 1280 E. Rosser St., Prescott. If so desired, donations in his memory may be made to the wounderwarriorproject.org.
