Services will be 10 a.m. Feb. 9, 2015, at Sacred Heart Parish in Prescott. Burial will be at Heritage Cemetery in Dewey, Arizona. Arrangements by Hampton Funeral Home. ~~~~~~ The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Thursday, February 05, 2015 Mary Tellez Lucero, 74, a longtime Prescott, Arizona, resident, passed away Feb. 1, 2015. She was born in Duncan, Arizona, on Dec. 25, 1940. Mary grew up in a very rural area where picking cotton and getting water from a well were a part of life. She graduated from Duncan High School and married Mike Lucero in 1959. Mike and Mary started their new life in Tucson, Arizona, where she had two children, Elizabeth and Michael. Mary was extremely proud of her family and loved taking care of them. She was a dedicated wife and loving mother. Mary and Mike moved to Prescott in the winter of 1971 and continued to raise her children in a loving environment. Her family remembers her wonderfully good cooking and generous heart. In 1997, at the relative young age of 56, Mary became gravely ill with a rare blood disease and defied death on many occasions. She was hospitalized that entire year but, through God's grace, came out of that illness and survived another 18 years. Mary loved to pray and had a profound faith in God. Her family will miss her loving, protective spirit and knows she will be praying for them in Heaven. She is preceded in death by her husband Mike in 2011 and her parents Martin and Luisa Tellez. She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth (Jeff) Henning and son Michael (fiancée Miriam Davis). She also is survived by siblings Marcello Arbizo, Carmelo/Alice Teliez, Martin/Mary Tellez, Candy/Mary Tellez, Robert/Raphaela Tellez, Alfred/Josephine Tellez, and Blasita/Carlos Rodriguez. A Catholic Mass will be 10 a.m. Feb. 9, 2015, at Sacred Heart Parish in Prescott. Burial will be at Heritage Cemetery in Dewey, Arizona. Hampton Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
