Connie Maxine (Vogus) Hedglin, 63, of Cordes Lakes, Arizona, died Jan. 31, 2015 at home with her loving husband, Herbert W. Hedglin Jr. and caregivers by her side.
Connie lived with Type 1 diabetes since she was 18 months old, well outliving her life expectancy of 14 years. The immediate cause of death was cardiopulmonary arrest due to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and Chronic Bronchitis.
Born on Sept. 6, 1951 in Oil City, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Clarence I. and Shirley J. Vogus.
She was a graduate of the class of 1969, Rocky Grove High School.
Connie worked at Reno Plastics, Polk State School and Hospital (both of Pennsylvania), and at the 4Bs Restaurant in Arizona. She was a giving person, often trying to help someone. She loved being outdoors whether it was camping or hunting. She had an affinity with the many animals and birds that lived near her.
She was married May 17, 1986, to Herbert W. Hedglin Jr. who survives her. They moved to Arizona to start their new life together. They loved each other very much. Connie devoted her life to Herb and enjoyed being with him at home, on tow, or on their Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are her son Michael Kline; sister Colonel (Retired) Diana L. Bodner; and brother Ronald S. Vogus, both of whom are from Fayetteville, North Carolina. Also surviving are her three nieces, Carson, Molly and Stephanie; numerous cousins; an uncle, Darrell Reagle of Parma Heights, Ohio; and an aunt, Phyllis Winkler of Oil City, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by her "kids (precious dogs)," Cloud, Snow, Blaze and Tiny.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Rosemarie Vogus.
A memorial service was took place in Cordes Lakes, Arizona on Feb. 16, 2015. There will be a graveside service and internment at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2015, at Jerusalem Corners Cemetery, Pleasantville, Pennsylvania.
