HERNANDEZ, Ola Dell

Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, Arizona, Wednesday, February 11, 2015 Ola Dell Thomas Hernandez, age 86, of Globe, Ariz. passed away on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015. Dell was born Aug. 20, 1928 in Portales, New Mexico to Hotha and Corinne Thomas. As a child, Dell was quite the tomboy. She would often be found riding horses, with or without a saddle. She also enjoyed helping her father run construction equipment. As long as she was outdoors, she was happy. Dell moved to Clifton, Ariz. from Hereford, Texas in 1960, then chose Globe as a home for her family in 1965. She began working for the Arizona Republic at that time. She was very active in the Globe/Miami community helping friends and family whenever possible. She could often be found serving as a volunteer with the Hospital Auxiliary. Later in life, Dell’s interests changed as her family grew. She found passion in sewing, quilting, and never turned down the opportunity to babysit her grandchildren. Dell is preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Betty Roberts and Patsy Starr; her brother, Johnny Thomas; and her son, Milton Jergins. Dell is survived by her sister, Peggy Ennis (Joe); her children, Joni Maldonado (Fred Barcon), Terry Phillips, and Aaron Lamont (Brian). She also leaves behind eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Services will be held for Dell on Feb. 21 at 11 a.m. at Bulman Mortuary in Globe.
