The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 02/13/2015 Aleene Rogers, 83, resident of Thatcher and formerly of Joseph City and Heber, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015, peacefully in her sleep. She was born June 9, 1931, to Lois and Alvirus Ogden “Bige” Rogers in Snowflake. Aleene grew up in Snowflake and graduated from Snowflake High School in 1949. After graduating from high school, she worked as a seamstress in the Tom Burns Dry Cleaners in Holbrook. During this time she met her future husband LeRoy Dale Cluff. They were married in the Mesa Temple Jan. 5, 1951. She was known for her beautiful singing voice and sang for many special occasions. Aleene was also a very accomplished seamstress and utilized that talent as a profession and throughout her life. Aleene was preceded in death by her husbands, Leroy Dale Cluff and E. Glyn Rogers, and oldest child, David Keith Cluff. Aleene is survived by her brother, Lewis Rogers of Holbrook; children Tracy Davis, Dalene (John) Griffin, Russell (Tricia Killian) Cluff and Tauna (Scott) Neerings; and nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, to whom she was known as “Big Grandma” (though she wasn’t all that big). Her son, Russell, said it best — “We are honored to have been raised by and loved by such a pure soul. We hope with a little effort we can learn to live and love the way she did.” Funeral services for Aleene will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at the Snowflake LDS Main Street Chapel, 48 N. Main St., in Snowflake with Bishop Dale Nielson of the Snowflake Sixth Ward officiating. Concluding services will follow in the RV “Mike” Ramsay Memorial Cemetery in Snowflake.
