Harriet M. Pope, 52 a teacher at Westwood Elementary School four years, died Tuesday, December 8, 1964, in St. Joseph's Hospital.
She was born in DeKalb, Mississippi, and moved to Phoenix in 1944 from Glencoe, Illinois.
She was a member of the Florence Crittenton Home auxiliary and American Education Association.
Surviving are her husband, John L.; a daughter, Barbara Van Wyke Pope, and a son, Stephen Van Wylke {sic} Pope, both of Phoenix; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Putman McLean of Meridian, Mississippi; and a sister, Mrs. Conrad Brown of Nashville, Tennessee.
Funeral services were held at First Congregational Church, 1407 N. 2nd St. The Rev. H. Shelby Lee officiated. Cremation at Greenwood A.L. Moore & Sons.
The family established a memorial scholarship fund in her name for the students at Westwood School.
