Regis Martin Nairn passed away Feb. 10, 2015. He was born in Edenborn, Pennsylvania. The son of Valentina and William Nairn; he was the youngest of eight children.
He was raised in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. He graduated from The University of Pittsburgh with his degree in dentistry. He also held a master of public health.
Dr. Nairn began his work career in the U.S. Air Force and then worked tirelessly for 30 years in public health for the Indian Health Service. When he was at The Indian Health Service, Dr. Nairn worked as a dentist then as area director at the Phoenix Indian Medical Center. After retiring as director at Phoenix Indian Medical Center, Dr. Nairn practiced children's dentistry from trailers in remote locations that didn't have access to the hospital.
Dr. Nairn was beloved by many; he will be remembered as competent, astute, generous and selfless.
Dr Nairn's first wife, Barbara Rae Bero, passed away in 1992. His son, Gregory, passed away in 2010. He married Norma Haddad Nairn in 1994. Norma's son, Dr. Paul Elrif, was the best man.
Dr. Nairn is survived by his beloved wife, Norma; daughter Leslie Nairn; sons Paul Elrif and Jean-Pierre Elrif; and his granddaughter Katherine. He will be sorely missed.
There will a memorial service at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at Unity of Prescott, 145 S. Arizona, Prescott, Arizona. This will be an informal event with no gifts.
