The Arizona Republic December 10, 1964 A memorial service for William McChesney, a Phoenix missionary who was killed last month (November 1964) by Congolese rebels, was conducted in the Church of God, 791 W. Fillmore. Mr. McChesney, 28, who had served the past 4 1/2 years at the mission station of Ibambi, was the son of Mr. and Mrs. George McChesney, 2009 N. 48th St. They have another son, Robert, 29, a Scottsdale school teacher. Mrs. McChesney said her son's body would not be returned to Phoenix for burial. Arrangements for burial in the Congo were made by the Heart of Africa Mission, the missionary organization which McChesney served. Officiating at the Phoenix service was the Rev. Lyle Howard of Mitchell, S.D. Also scheduled to speak was Mrs. Arthur Fromman, a missionary recently returned from India. Attending the service was John Whittle of Los Angeles, Western regional director for the crusade. Memorial donations may be sent to the World Wide Evangelistic Crusade, Fort Washington, PA.
