MERCER, Donald Jay

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 02/20/2015 Donald J. Mercer, 83, resident of Lakeside, died Sept. 6, 2014, at home of natural causes. He was born July 15,1930, in Phoenix. Don was a graduate of Arizona State University and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was from an Arizona family dating back five generations to the Arizona territorial days. Don is survived by daughters Elizabeth (Dan) and Nanette; son Michael (Kim); brother Pat Forrest; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Annabelle, son Mark, brother Bill, and his parents, Fred and Hazel Mercer. The family will hold an internment service for Donald Jay and Anabelle Rose Mercer at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at the National Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road in Phoenix.
