Robert “Bob” Gosnell, Capt. United States Army Reserve, 75, died suddenly at home February 9, 2015. Bob, husband of 34 years to Shirley A. Gosnell (Lauffer), and 17 years to the late Mary E. Gosnell (Thompson) is additionally survived by his 3 sons Greg(Tina), Scott(Liz) and David, 4 grandchildren, Andrew, Aidan, Nora and Kyle and his brother Ray.
Bob served as Officer in Charge, Port Equipment Branch, 98th Transportation Company, Port of Inchon, South Korea where he developed a lifelong passion and interest in Safety Engineering. Upon honorable discharge from active duty, Bob pursued this passion for 37 years as a Safety Engineer, Contracting and Transportation Services, Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, retiring as Assistant Vice President and Practice Leader of Contracting and Transportation Services for Liberty Mutual National Market Loss Prevention.
Additionally, Bob was a long time member of various National Safety Organizations, including ASSE, recently receiving the 2013-2014 Safety Professional of the Year award from the Southern Arizona Chapter of the ASSE. He also served on ANSI technical and standards committees as subject matter expert and Liberty’s representative.
Bob graduated from the University Of Pittsburgh, was a lifelong Pirates, Steelers and Panthers fan, belatedly adopting the Red Sox and Patriots. He enjoyed 14 years of retirement with his grandchildren and doing avid research for the Old Pueblo Trolley, Tucson AZ.
