Wickenburg Sun (Wickenburg AZ) Wednesday, March 4, 2015, p B-4 20 Years Ago Orona, 48, dies in highway accident (Wednesday, March 1, 1995) He was a teacher, a coach, a local businessman and a 20-year resident of Wickenburg. Julian Orona, 48, was known for being "sensitive to the needs" of local youngsters who he helped coach in various athletic activities. But early Saturday morning, reportedly returning home from watching a high school playoff game and later a Phoenix Suns game at America West Arena, Orona was killed in a two-vehicle accident east of Wickenburg. The van he was driving struck a car reportedly pulling out of a rest stop on Highway 60 at milepost 116, about 1:15am Saturday, Feb 25. Orona moved to Wickenburg in 1975 and taught at Wickenburg High School until 1982, when he and his wife purchased the Frontier Inn. They operated the restaurant until 1992.
