ARMANNO, Dominic Frank (Sonny)


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 03/10/2015 Dominic Frank “Sonny” Armanno, 89, died unexpectedly Feb. 28, 2015, with his beloved wife Nancy by his side. Frank was born Feb. 6, 1926, in Baltimore, Md. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps at the age of 17, serving in World War II. In 1945, following his Army service, Frank began a 30-year career as a logistical engineer for McDonnell Douglas Air Craft, traveling all over the world, including tours with the American troops during the Korean and Vietnam wars. Frank retired in Yuma and moved to Show Low in 1995 with Nancy. He served for many years on the Planning and Zoning Board for the City of Show Low and volunteered for over 19 years in the Show Low Senior Police Patrol. He was an active member of the American Legion Honor Guard, Elks Lodge, Masonic Lodge, Experimental Aviation Association and Church of Our Savior. Frank was an avid craftsman, specializing in stained glass and jewelry making. He enjoyed hunting, aviation (he has had his pilots license since his teenage years) and traveling the world with Nancy by his side. He is survived by Nancy Armanno, his loving wife of 29 years; his daughter, Toni Louise (Ed) Cornett of Las Vegas, Nev.; stepsons Scott and Bruce Pask of New York City; stepdaughter Heather Ann (Doug) Atkins; and his grandchildren, angel Conner Michael (2003), Chloe, and Callie Atkins of Lascassas, Tenn., all of whom adored him beyond measure. Please consider memorial donations in Frank’s name to the Church of Our Saviour in Lakeside and the Elks Veterans Fund. Frank considered the White Mountains to be his Paradise on Earth. A celebration of his life will take place May 9, in Show Low at the Church of Our Saviour. Frank is sorely missed by the many people who knew and loved him.
