The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 03/10/2015 Robert Christian Delzer, 83, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015, at his home in Show Low. He was born June 28, 1931, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Arthur Neal Delzer and Josephine Margaret Odegaard Delzer. Robert was a man who loved his time in the air as a pilot. He served as a fighter pilot during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed playing the violin. Robert went to school to become a deacon. He worked as a councilman and vice mayor of Show Low. He worked for more than 30 years as an engineer. Robert also did volunteer work for the Show Low Senior Patrol and the chemotherapy lab at Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center. He is survived by Helen and Oscar Odegaard, Alvin and Frances Odegaard, and numerous other relatives on the Odegaard side, and Laura Metzger; eight children, Michael (Debra) Nelson, David Nelson, Mark Nelson, Catherine (Bill) Jeffries, Mary Nelson, Sharon Carr, Sean (Jeanne) Nelson and Steven Delzer; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 11, at St. Rita’s Catholic Church, 1400 E. Owens Ave., in Show Low. The concluding committal service will follow at the Show Low Cemetery. The family requests rather than sending flowers that a donation be made to St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Robert’s name.
