HRUZA, Clarence

The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona Wednesday, March 11, 2015 Clarence Hruza, the love of my life left today, Feb. 27, 2015, for his final journey. We take comfort in knowing there will be peace and no more pain for this wonderful man. Clarence was born on Jan. 1, 1930, in Lidgerwood, N.D., to James and Emma Hruza. He spent his younger years on the family farm helping his dad. His mother had passed away a few days after he was born, and his dad raised the family alone. At age 18 he joined the Army and was sent to Hawaii for basic training. He received a Purple Heart for injuries he received on the front line in Korea. He was transferred to Japan for medical treatment and recovery. After his discharge he went back to North Dakota, helping his Dad again on the farm. Upon the passing of his dad he went to the Twin Cities in Minnesota and worked at various jobs there. In June 1958 he married the love of his life and soul mate, Shirley Tucker Hartman. They lived in St. Paul for three years and then moved to Sandpoint, Idaho, where they eventually purchased a small farm near Colburn. Clarence worked at Hedlund Mill at Elmira, later transferring to the Hedlund Mill in Sandpoint. The mill was sold to Georgia Pacific, then to Louisiana Pacific where he worked for 28 years. Upon retiring Clarence and Shirley wintered in Wickenburg as snow birds then tried year round Arizona living and loved it. Clarence is survived by his wife Shirley; four loving daughters, Vicki (Bobby) Womack of Nederland, Texas; Linda (Dan) Remsburg of Florissant, Colo; Jackie Hanson of Sandpoint; Holly Hruza of Wickenburg; a loving son Lance (Heidi) Hruza of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; six grandchildren Monica Bennett and Brooke Alstatt of Colorado, Chris Hanson, Shawna Myers, Erica andBrad Hruza of Idaho; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Clarence and his wife both belong to Research for Life in hopes of contributing back to medical research. Clarence was adamant that he wanted no services. At a later date a family gathering will be held in his honor near the old family farm and the ashes will be scattered there. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Emma Hruza; his four siblings James Hruza, Leonard Hruza, Anna Marahol and Georgina Novotny; his granddaughter Amber Weatherford and her baby girl Chloe Breaux.
