Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, Arizona, Wednesday, March 11, 2015 Edward John Miller Jr., 82, of Flagstaff, Arizona, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Pat; seven children; Dick (Nadine), Lorie Knobbe (David), Tom (Barbara), Steve (Kim), Joanne Davidson (George), Mary, and Dan (Andie); his brother Jim (Virginia); fifteen grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Edward and Alice Miller, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (Fournier Institute) and a Master’s degree in physics (DePaul University), beginning a career in instrumentation which never saw retirement, working at Argonne National Laboratory, Motorola, Westinghouse, Tobar, Camille Bauer, Southwest Research Institute, and lastly founding his design firm. Deeply loved and admired by family and friends, Ed will be remembered for his tireless technical mind, and much more so for his warm-heartedness, his lifelong devotion to his blind-date sweetheart, and his remarkable gift of fathering a large family and yet each child felt they were Dad’s treasure. He shared his faith and musical talent by joyfully serving the Lord in the choir and playing the piano at St. Joseph Parish in Williams, Arizona. Services will be held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 330 W Coral Gables in Phoenix on Saturday, March 14. Rosary and viewing begin at 11am, with the funeral mass at 12pm. Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1562 E Baseline in Mesa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Cancer Center of Northern Arizona, 1329 N Beaver St, Flagstaff, AZ, 86001, or to St Vincent de Paul, St Joseph Conference, PO Box 392, Williams, AZ, 86046.
