BREEN, Francis (Jerry)


The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Friday, March 13, 2015 Francis "Jerry" Breen, 89, of Prescott, Arizona passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2015. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1925 to Leona Hinger Breen and Tom Breen, Jerry was the oldest son of seven children. In his late teen years, he joined the U.S. Army and was a survivor of the WW II Battle of the Bulge. Shortly after returning, he met and married Nancy McCullough (deceased) and raised five children in Glenshaw, Pennsylvania. Later moving the family to Phoenix, he became a realtor in Arizona and in 1980 married Linda Beck Trinka adding three stepdaughters to his family. He worked in the Phoenix area and later moved to Prescott, Arizona where he has been residing. Jerry loved working. After his retirement from real estate, he volunteered for Meals on Wheels and for the Yavapai Regional Medical Center. He lived a life of service to God, his country, his family and people in need. He is survived by his wife, Linda Breen; children, Pam Wertz, Dennis Breen (Trenell), Bill Breen (Barbara), David Breen, Dale Breen (Tami), Debra Kozar (James), Mary Myers (Geoff), Cindy Shively; 16 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sisters, Jean Pantukhoff, Claire Stokes, Katherine Swanwick (Dirk); and many nieces and nephews. A graveside memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2015 at the National Memorial Cemetery, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, Arizona. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jerry's name to Honor Flight, www.honorflightaz.org, an organization that transports veterans to their memorial in Washington, DC.
