Eleanor Jean Mulhorn, née Wiltrout, came into this world, March 13, 1922, on the family farm in Logan, KS.
She departed her life, March 9, 2015, after a short illness in Cottonwood, AZ.
The youngest of five, she grew up loving animals, especially horses.
As long as she was able, she had at least one pet and donated to many animal welfare organizations.
She loved music, especially singing and playing piano.
She was proud of her support of the war effort during World War II, especially her work as a "Rosie the Riveter" at the North American bomber plant in Kansas City. She broke new ground as a professional woman, working in civil engineering for the Army Corps of Engineers, and many of Arizona's state highways, especially Interstates 15 & 17, were made safer because of her dedicated design skills. She was regional president of the Society of Women Engineers.
She loved life, as a professional ballroom dancer, ham radio enthusiast, and devoted member and office holder of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Cottonwood Village became her home after her husband, John Mulhorn died. She considered many of the staff and residents her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Sharp Foken (Jim), her son, Jeffrey Burton (Jeanne), six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Her life will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday, March 14, 2015, in the auditorium at Cottonwood Village, 201 E. Mingus Ave., Cottonwood, AZ, 86326.
