Evelyn Reynolds Hulsey, 96, died Monday, March 9, 2015, at the home of her daughter, Kay Scott, in Mesa. She was born Sept. 7, 1918, in Luna, N.M., the daughter of Amasa O. and Minnie Lee Reynolds.
Evelyn had a green thumb and loved to work outside. She always had a beautiful lawn and flowers, as well as a vegetable garden that she generously shared with friends and family. She made many beautiful quilts and loved to crochet. Evelyn had a beautiful singing voice and participated in many choirs, sang for special occasions and led the music in the Luna Ward for close to 75 years.
Evelyn loved the Phoenix Suns and attending the temple, spending many hours in the Mesa Temple. She was a hard worker and spent her life serving others.
Evelyn married the love of her life, Buford Hulsey, and they raised six children in Luna. They made their living raising cattle and ranching just north of Luna.
Evelyn is survived by her children, Gary (Inez) of Tyrone, N.M.; Eloise (Don) Wisdom of Gilbert; Steven (Barbara) of Luna, N.M.; Corwin (Sally) on the ranch north of Luna, N.M.; Kay (Mike) Scott of Mesa; Richard (Elaine) of Mesa; 30 grandchildren; 57 great grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Buford B. Hulsey, granddaughter Joie Wisdom, grandson Jayson L. Scott, and six siblings.
Funeral services were held March 14, at the Luna Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Luna, N.M. Interment followed the services at the Luna Cemetery.
