ANDREWS, Vincent C. / T.

Weekly Arizona Miner, Prescott, Arizona Territory Friday, December 9, 1881, page 4, column 2 Last night at about 9 o'clock a soldier named Andrews of Fort Whipple, committed suicide by shooting himself with a carbine through the neck, death resulting almost instantly. He had attempted to take his life several times before, but his brother soldiers prevented him from doing so until last evening when he finally carried out his plans. The excessive use of opium is attributed as the cause. ------------------ Transcriber's note: Burial is at the Prescott National Cemetery, Prescott, Arizona.
