Born on Dec. 12, 1927 in a small ranching community near Moroleon, Guanajuato, Mexico, Maria moved with her five children to join her husband in the mining community of Bagdad, Arizona in 1960. In Bagdad, her family grew by two with the births of Rigo and Jaime. A strong advocate for education, her children excelled in academics and athletics and went on to distinguish themselves with successful professional careers. After retirement in 1989, Maria and Abelino Sr. moved to Prescott Valley where they enjoyed local community activities and were active members of St Germaine's Catholic Church.
Maria will be dearly missed, the lessons she taught us about love, integrity, hard work, kindness to strangers, devotion to family, and the importance of faith are timeless. Her beautiful smile and quiet strength will be missed every day just as much as her delicious meals and heartfelt benedictions before each journey. Maria Carbajal was one of the finest women to ever walk this earth. Her purity of heart and dignity of conduct are models for all.
A rosary vigil and viewing is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday, March 27, 2015, at St. Germaine Catholic Church, Prescott Valley, Arizona. Immediately following will be a Funeral Mass and Reception.
