W. M. Welch, Dewey Man, Dies at 60
William M. Welch, 60, died yesterday at a local hospital to which he had been taken when he became ill on the job at the Iron King Mine.
At the mine, he was a mechanic's helper. He had been a resident of Dewey and an employee of the mine for the past 11 years.
Born Aug. 30, 1898 in Comanche, Tex., he came to Arizona at an early age and had been a resident of the state for 52 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Zetta Mae Welch, Dewey, a daughter, Mrs. Louise Elsner, Dewey, a grandchild; and three sisters, Mrs. Lola Stoker, of Phoenix, Mrs. Beulah Scott, of Prescott and Mrs. Frona Subers, of Phoenix.
The visitation period will be Thursday between 5 and 9 p.m. at the Ruffner Funeral Home for those who wish to call.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. at Ruffner's by the Rev. Donald G. Creamer of the Trinity Presbyterian church in Prescott.
Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
