BURNS, James Ferguson

Hassayampa Miner (Wickenburg AZ) Thursday, October 4, 1917, p 4:1 Jas. F. Burns, one of the locators of the famous Portland mine at Cripple Creek, died in Colorado Springs recently. Mr. Burns was a journeyman plumber and had never seen a mine in his life, but went with the first rush into the then new camp and with Jas. Doyle located the claims that have since made each of them rich and famous. Burns left an estate valued at over four million dollars, which is not bad for one's first mining venture.
