HERSHBERGER, Victor E.

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 03/31/2015 Victor E. Hershberger On March 19, 2015, planet earth lost a dear soul when Victor E. Hershberger died suddenly in Las Vegas, Nev. He was born Aug. 26, 1977, to Gary and Lydia Hershberger in Tucson. When Victor was 8, he and his family moved to the White Mountains and he enrolled at Blue Ridge Elementary. He continued his education in the Blue Ridge School District, where he excelled as friend, student and powerhouse on the offensive and defensive lines for the Blue Ridge Yellow Jackets’ football team. As a three-year starter, Victor was named first team all-conference and first team all-state in 1995, his senior year. He often said one of the best days of his life was when, during his senior year, Blue Ridge won the state championship in football. At that championship game is when one of Victor’s scariest moments happened as his sister Lena, who was 8 months pregnant, took a tumble down the bleachers during the celebration. People still talk about seeing Victor running faster than ever to be by her side as the paramedics tended to her. The result of that pregnancy was Victor’s niece, Candice Orach, whom he loved dearly. Victor went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Arizona in 2001. He followed graduation with a successful history of marketing and sales challenges. Most recently Victor was helping market and sell solar-power systems first in the Phoenix metro area and most recently at his “dream job” when he was transferred to Las Vegas in November 2014. Victor was always the first to give someone a hard time or tease. He was always the first one to give a friend the shirt off his back or lend a helping hand. As a result of his kindness, his organs were donated to extend the life of others so that his memory will live on. He is survived by his parents, Gary and Lydia Hershberger of Lakeside; sister Lena (Craig) Borenstein; niece Candice Orach of Maricopa; and aunts, uncles and cousins too numerous to mention. The Hershberger family invites all of Victor’s friends and family to a celebration of his life at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at The Mission at Minder Binders, 715 S. McClintock Road, in Tempe. A celebration of life on the mountain will be announced at a future date. The family has requested that donations be made in lieu of flowers to the Victor E. Hershberger memorial fund at Chase Bank.
