MESA, SR., David R. (Dickie)


Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, Arizona, Tuesday, March 31, 2015 David R. Mesa Sr. (Dickie), age 90, passed away March 23, 2015 at Heritage Health Care in Globe, Ariz. He was born on Feb. 18, 1925 in Miami, Ariz. to Celilio and Serafina Mesa. A lifelong resident of Miami, David’s early years were hard because of the Depression. He was a member of the CCC Camps at the age of 16. He served in the Army during WWII in Germany as an infantry soldier, then later as a munitions loader in France. After the war he came back to Miami and worked at Miami Copper and Inspiration Consolidated Copper mines. He retired from the mining industry after 37 years. David enjoyed cooking, and was well known for his homemade chorizo, pot roast and gravy. He also enjoyed gardening and spending time with his children, grandchildren and his cat, Fluffy. But most of all, he enjoyed visiting with his friends at Fry’s. David was an amazing father to his children, was liked by many and will be missed by all. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Louisa Mesa. He leaves behind sons, David Mesa Jr. of Central Heights, Tony Mesa (Becky) of Globe and George Mesa of Miami. He is also survived by his daughters, Helen Rubio (Samuel) of Mesa, Vera D’Angelo (Albert) of Phoenix, Louisa Medina (Angel) of Miami and Rosie Hernandez (Robert) of Tucson; as well as 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Also remaining are two sisters, Connie Villaverde of Florence and Margaret Pogue of Phoenix. Memorial mass will be held on April 10, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Miami, Ariz., with Rosary at 9:30 a.m. Assisting the family is Bulman Miles Funeral Services of Globe, Ariz.
