COTUGNO, Leonard William (Len)

Los Angeles Times (CA) Tuesday, August 10, 2010 Leonard William Cotugno December 4, 1920 - August 3, 2010 Leonard Cotugno, only son of Rose and Dominic Cotugno, died at peace with the comfort of Christ on August 3, 2010 in Los Angeles. Born and raised in Chicago, Len enlisted in the Marines in 1940 and saw action on Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Saipan, Tinian and Okinawa. He received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Returning home, he married Mildred Gosselin in 1946 and for 64 years they were inseparable. After working for Armours for 37 years, Len and Mil retired but remained active, traveling throughout the US and helping to care for their grandchildren. Len is survived by his wife Mildred, his son Lee and daughter-in-law Holly Fujie, and his grandchildren Sabrina and Thomas. Len knew war, but loved peace. He worked hard, but knew how to laugh. He had little formal schooling, but was the most thoughtful of men. We miss him, now and always.
