Mildred Juliette Cotugno
April 9, 1921 - September 25, 2014
Mildred Cotugno, oldest daughter of Eugene and Juliette Gosselin, left this world in peace on September 25, 2014 and joined her husband, Len, who has been waiting for her since 2010.
Born in the Marquette Park district on the South Side of Chicago, she moved with her family to Oakley Avenue, two doors down from where her future husband lived. While their marriage would have to wait until Len returned from WWII, they were together and inseparable for the next 64 years, living in Chicago, Kansas city, Worthington, Minnesota, Wickenburg and Surprise, Arizona, and since 1994 in Los Angeles.
A child of the depression, Millie always worked and appreciated the value of work. But she also loved to dance, from the time she auditioned on Major Bowes Amateur Hour until she led the conga line with her walker at Hollenbeck Palms' New Years parties. Millie was incredibly kind and always had a smile. She loved to help others, and upon arriving at anyone's house would inevitably say "put me to work." She is making Heaven a better place right now.
Millie is survived by her son, Lee, daughter-in-law Holly Fujie, and grandchildren Sabrina and Thomas.
We will miss her always.
