Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, Arizona, Tuesday, April 28, 2015 Joyce Wilson Loew, 80, died Tuesday, April 21, 2015. Born June 19, 1934 in Taylorville, Illinois to Ray and Edith Wilson. She was raised in Morrisonville, Illinois. She graduated with a degree in music education, piano performance, and organ, from Park College, Parkville, Missouri in 1956. She came to Arizona and taught music and organized the marching band at Mohawk Valley Union High School in Wellton. She married Edmund A. Loew Jr. on Aug. 16, 1957 and substitute taught in Chicago schools while he completed seminary. Upon graduation, they were called to the First Presbyterian Church of Florence, Arizona in 1959 and in 1964 came to the First Presbyterian Church of Globe. Joyce was active in many community organizations; Tuesday Book Club, Community Concerts, American Field Service (AFS), as well as teaching a limited number of piano students from her home. She was a loving wife and mother, creating a home that was full of love and joy. Her faith and love of music was shared with many as she served as the organist for First Presbyterian Church from January 1968 until January 2000, Choir Director from 1990 until her retirement in 2000 and as an elder of the church for the past 5 years. Joyce is survived by her husband, The Reverend Edmund Loew Jr.; three sons, Edmund A. Loew III (Cathy), Donald W. Loew (Jennifer), and Gregory M. Loew (Julie) and one daughter, Barbara J. Mitchell (David); along with 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. She is also survived by one brother, Howard R. Wilson of Taylorville, Illinois and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, May 1, 2015 at 1 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Globe, Ariz. The Service will begin with a short organ recital by Lynn Moser of Tucson. A reception and visiting will follow the service in the church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the First Presbyterian Church, Globe, Ariz.
