Harriet Patricia Walser McCain, 66, of Prescott, Arizona died Saturday April 25, 2015 in Prescott. She was born Sunday, July 11, 1948 in Williams, Arizona to Anothon H. and Elizabeth J. Walser.
Harriet or "Patty" as she was known throughout most of her life, finally succumbed to several health issues and now rests in the hands of her Lord, Jesus Christ. Patty was born to Anthon "Tony" and Elizabeth "Betty" Walser in Williams, Arizona on July 11, 1948. She was a very active and intelligent child excelling in academics and athletics.
She let no school subject get the better of her and continued this pursuit to master any subject all of her life. Her drive led her to graduate as Salutatorian of Williams High School Class of 1966. Her academic ability garnered her a full scholarship to the University of Arizona.
Her young years also showed her to be multi-talented in other areas as well. She learned to play the violin, was a solid track athlete and an accomplished twirler. She was the head twirler of the Kachina Dolls twirling group, which regularly marched in local parades and competed in state-wide competitions at the Arizona State Fair. She was also a member of the Williams Masonic Lodge Rainbow Girls and a Williams High School representative to Arizona Girls State.
Her intelligence and restless spirit was also a curse. Once her pursuit or interest of the moment was mastered, she sought something else to challenge her. It could be dabbling in painting, studying philosophy, psychology, romance languages or to search for answers to questions known only to herself. But this desire always pushed her onward. She was not afraid of new and evolving technologies.
She took on computers and mastered programming in COBOL and FORTRAN Languages. After this interlude, she again found a path to follow and while in her mid-30s, she joined the U.S. Navy. She took on tough subject matter and learned communications and electronics becoming an Electronics Tech and served in Maine and Hawaii.
Patty's life was filled enough for more than one person and never dull. She was unique, she was loved and she will be missed.
She is preceded in death by her father Anthon Walser; mother Elizabeth Walser; and sister Toni Ann Walser Thompson.
She is survived by her brother, Michael Walser; nephews Samuel Walser, Wesley Walser and Jeffery Thompson; nieces, Lisa Thompson and Julie Thompson.
