LAMBERT, Margaret Elizabeth

(Maiden Name: Raymer)

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Friday, May 22, 2015 Margaret Elizabeth Raymer Lambert, age 62, passed away at home on the evening of Thursday, April 23, 2015, due to cancer. Born June 3, 1952, at Travis Air Force Base in California's Napa Valley to John C. Raymer Jr. and Jane (Cressey) Raymer, Margaret was a proud Air Force brat and spent her childhood crisscrossing the country from Chatham AFB in Savannah, Georgia, Ellsworth AFB in Rapid City, South Dakota and Castle AFB in Merced, California. Her parents instilled in her a great love of travel, beginning with a tour of Europe at the age of 8 with her mother and grandmother. Most recently, she enjoyed a trip to Ireland in 2012. Following her father's retirement from the Air Force in 1969, the family moved to Prescott, where she would later graduate from Prescott High School and make her lifelong home. At the age of 18, Margaret met John R. Kleiss Lambert, who would become the love of her life; they were married in 1974. She became a member of the Baha'i faith at 19, and for the remainder of her life served as an active member of the local Baha'i community. During the months of her illness, Margaret's resolute faith sustained her. Margaret had a wide appreciation of art and history, which led her to serve many years as a volunteer and on the acquisitions board at Sharlot Hall Museum; she was also a docent with the Phoenix Art Museum, and was involved with both the Prescott Fine Arts program and First Questors antique study group. For some years, she was an antiques dealer with a well-known shop on South Montezuma Street, where she catered to both local and tourist trade. Friends remember Margaret for her vast knowledge and intelligence; she was interested in many things, including textiles and fashion, and was noted for her tasteful personal style. She was admired for her grace and elegance, her compassion and generosity, her subtle sense of humor and her delight in a good cup of tea. Burial was in the Arizona Pioneer Cemetery on April 26, 2015. A memorial service is planned. Margaret is survived by her husband John; son Jesse Raymer Lambert and daughter-in-law Melissa; daughter Marina Elizabeth Lambert Farook and son-in-law Thahir; and grandsons Tristan Joseph Lambert, Rahman Gabriel Aly Shah Farook, Zayd Noah Shah Farook, Sufian Isaiah Shah Farook, and the youngest Majid John Shah Farook. She is mourned deeply and missed fiercely by everyone who knew her. Information provided by survivors.
