SIMPSON, Nelson H

Hassayampa Miner (Wickenburg AZ) Thursday, December 28, 1916, p 5:6 Local Man Hunt Staged For several days preceding Christmas the Wickenburg district staged one of the liveliest man hunts that has been seen in this part of the country for many years. Two unknown tramps killed the Simpson brothers of Senator on the 16th. Those tramps had robbed the camp of the Simpsons and were later arrested by them and while being taken to Prescott wheeled on their captors and shot both. One of the murderers was arrested near Wagner two or three days later and the other successfully made his escape. A posse of deputies with several Indian trailers followed the fugitive across country to the Gold Bar mine, where the trail was lost. Deputies Roy Young and Guy Bozarth, besides Maricopa county officials, with two white trailers and three Indian trailers closely combed the country surrounding Wickenburg for several days, but were unable to pick up the trail again. Various rumors of parties answering the description of the fugitive at Morristown, Wenden, Bouse and other points were investigated by the officers without result. Some believe that W. R. Curry's horse, which was stolen from his corral in this town on Thursday night, was taken by the fugitive, but there is nothing more than the fact that he was in the vicinity at that time to warrant this belief. The officers returned to Prescott Sunday night.
