Rick Kilgour was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, as the second son to Richard and Evelyn Louise Kilgour in 1947.
He enjoyed a happy childhood with his two brothers and sister. He grew fond of the outdoors and developed keen hunting skills. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1966. He met the love of his life, Bronwyn Bruce, and they were married in 1967. Their marriage produced two sons, Richard and Christian. He was an excellent father and had a positive influence on many children.
His participation in intense combat during his tour of duty in Vietnam created a strong bond between his brothers in arms and a patriotic love for his country. After an honorable discharge in 1970, he held a variety of jobs before becoming a carpenter. He retired from the VA Hospital in 2000 and continued to work as a fine craftsman and renovation specialist.
Rick had a zest for life and was full of energy. He had a cheerful personality and loved to tell jokes. He went through life with a smile.
He is survived by his brother William Kilgour; sister Candace Jackson; two sons Richard Kilgour III and Christian Kilgour; and grandson Skylar Kilgour.
Rick will receive military honors at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2015, at the Prescott VA Cemetery and a celebration honoring his life will be at noon, at the Plaza View Ballroom, 120 E. Gurley St. (2nd floor above the Old Capitol market), Prescott, Arizona. Call 928-445-8861 for additional information.
