Reverend Jim Huffstetler, 82, passed away Friday, May 15, 2015 at Haven Health in Globe, Ariz. He was born on July 17, 1933 in Van Buren, Ark., one of nine children born to Charles Huffstetler and Augusta Wiley. All of his siblings, except Mary, preceded him in death.
Jim married his childhood sweetheart, Regina Medlock, and in 1968 they moved to Arizona. Jim was a heavy equipment operator, carpenter, and owned his own pest control company. Together the couple raised three sons. He is survived by his sons, Jim Huffstetler of Globe and Terry Huffstetler of Show Low, Ariz. The couple lost their son Duane in 1995, and Regina passed away in 2007.
They had been married 56 years at the time of her death.
In the mid-1970s, Jim found his passion and abandoned his previous occupations in favor of administering God’s word. He became an ordained preacher and helped build the Calvary Shadows Assembly of God church in Globe.
Throughout the years, Jim was also pastor of churches in Phoenix, Kingman, Show Low and Fredonia, Ariz. The couple then returned to Globe, and Jim continued to pastor the Assembly of God church until his retirement. He was well liked and counseled many families during times of trouble. Jim leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and parishioners.
Visitation was Friday May 22, 2015 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bulman Miles Globe Chapel. Funeral services were held Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Calvary Shadows Assembly of God Church in Globe.
Interment at Globe City Cemetery.
