Prescott Evening Courier (AZ) Tuesday, August 22, 1961, p 1 Once Fire Chief Here, Robert Connell Dies Robert Connell Jr., 78, member of a pioneer Prescott family, died this morning at a local hospital. Connell, of 242 S. Mt. Vernon, was a native of Prescott. He was born July 23, 1883. He was a past exalted ruler of the Prescott Elks Lodge 330 and former chief of the volunteer fire department here. Connell served in the Navy as a young man, seeing service in the Far East. He was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Roberta C. Steffey of Summit, NJ, and Mrs. Anna Margaret Browning of San Diego, Calif; a sister, Mrs. Winnie Cartmell of Prescott; and nine grandchildren. His wife, Bonnie, died May 20, 1960. Vernon, who died Tuesday, will be Friday at 11am at St. Luke's Episcopal Church. The Rev. David Churchman Trimble, St. Luke's rector, will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
