KPC News (Kendallville IN) Thursday, December 18, 2014 Auburn--William "Bill" J. MacDonald, 82, of Auburn died Monday, December 15, 2014 at DeKalb Health. He was an Auburn resident for 50 years. William was born August 15, 1932, in South Bend, Indiana, to Myron Douglas and Genevieve MacDonald. William worked as a golf pro for 21 years. He began his career as an assistant pro at Marywood Country Club in Battle Creek, Michigan. Then went on to become a golf pro at Wickenburg Country Club in Wickenburg, Arizona, South Haven Country Club in South Haven, Michigan, Hastings Country Club in Hastings, Michigan, Greenhurst Country Club in Auburn, Indiana, Pine Valley Country Club in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and then worked 30 years as a Program Director for Golf World magazine. William was a United States Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. In 1955, he married Alice L. Gallimore in Niles, Michigan, and she survives in Auburn. They have two sons, W. Robert "Bob" MacDonald and his wife Carla of Huntington and John MacDonald and his wife Kim of Auburn; one daughter, Tena MacDonald and her husband Steve Greulich of Indianapolis; one brother, Walter (Affia) MacDonald of Chesapeake, Virginia; one sister, Laura Adams of South Bend, Indiana; four grandchildren, Jessica (Aaron) Baker of West Lafayette, Jennifer (Kevin) Yarger of Huntington, and Madison MacDonald and Donavon MacDonald, both of Auburn; and four great-grandchildren, Addison Baker, Calvin Baker, Evelyn Baker and Kendall Yarger. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Auburn, and was a life member of the Professional Golfers Association. Services will be 11am Saturday, December 20, at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn, with Pastor Wilbur Yates officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Auburn, Indiana. Military graveside honors are being conducted by the United States Army. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8pm Friday, December 19, at the funeral home.
