TOLLEY, John Compton

Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, Arizona, Tuesday, June 09, 2015 John Compton Tolley, born June 21, 1923 in Lynchburg, Tenn., beloved husband to Angela Tolley for more than 51 years, passed away on May 12, 2015 at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, Calif. He was 91. Raised in the countryside of Tennessee, John Tolley (known also as John Compton as an actor) migrated in his early 20s from Tennessee to the hard concrete streets of New York to pursue a career in acting and theater. John Tolley found work in New York in movies, radio, stage and television before eventually moving to Los Angeles in the early 1950s. He was in more than 43 films and TV shows. In 1952, het met Angela Robles, the love of his life, who he would later marry in 1964 and to whom he remained dedicated for more than 51 years. In the 1960s, Tolley began his long and hugely successful journey as a real estate developer in the Hollywood Hills and Laurel Canyon. He is survived by his loving wife, Angela Tolley, and locally by Ernest Robles, Bill Robles, Linda Garner, Jo Ann (Craig) Steele, Jay Garner and Andy Garner.
